Questionnaire:

Audience research:

This is my audience questionnaire survey, I have asked thirty people because it gives me a good range of answers to help me know what genre of music is popular and other factors that will help me design my own magazine later on. I asked people I knew then asked them to ask the people they knew so I could get a wide scale of people. I also conducted an online questionnaire to eight people so I could make it up to thirty people. I think thirty is a good number to go for as I have collected a good range of ages and answers, the online questionnaire was the same questionnaire as above.

Analysed answers:

This shows the amount of people that took part in my questionnaire and the gender that they are, this will help me decide what gender to aim my magazine at. As the results are nearly equal I think it’s a good idea to do a gender neutral magazine as I think with the magazine analysing it is very possible to do a gender neutral successfully. With all the result from the questionnaires I could maybe spot a pattern with the genders which will help me spot the codes and conventions that each gender stereotypically link their gender with as I could include each one of their codes and conventions so it is a effective music magazine.

The graph presents data of the age ranges of the people that took part in my questionnaire, it's important to know the age ranges as there could be a pattern in what they like. This will help me identify what age group buys the most magazines however it is only a small sample so I cannot get an accurate result but I can get a brief outline of what they expect from each age groups which will help me recognise what is popular among the different democratic ages. As my results show that 16-21 year olds buy the most magazines in my sampling group I think this will be the best age group to aim at.

This graph shows the percentage of people that either buy magazines or not, this would give me an insight into how popular magazines are to a small percentage of the population and also to the people that I asked.

This is probably one of the most important questions that I have asked as this tells more what is the most popular genre among the people which would help me decide what genre of music to do my music magazine later on. This question will help me identity what is popular among the sample of people that I asked. When planning my magazine I will have these results in mind to help me decide on the genre of magazine I will my designing. Although POP is the popular genre I do not have enough knowledge to design this gene, I will have to debate whether to stick to the popular genre or do a genre I know more about and that I listen too.

The amount of money is important as you can see the quality of magazine people buy and also their budget. The results show that not many people buy a magazine above £3 and no one buys a magazine worth £10,most of the popular and main magazines people buy are actually priced within the price bracket of ‘£1-3’, depending on the quality of magazine depends on the price. From my findings I found out that people from the lower age range fits mostly into the ‘£1-3’ price bracket range presenting that even though the buy the most magazines they do not spend the most on them.

The question that I have asked depending if the audience would buy a magazine depending on the cover star is a really important question as when I start designing my magazine I would take these results into consideration when deciding on what style of magazine I would be creating and what style of a 'cover star' I would use to make sure that it is a gender neutral magazine as more consumers would be more interested. From interacting with the majority of people asked I found out that they would be more likely inclined to purchase a magazine if they are a fan of them as some magazines  offer ‘free posters’ of them.

The results of this question surprised me as I predicted the results would end in with more 'yes' but it ended up the less amount with 'no' coming first with 14 compared to ‘yes’ coming last with 7. This just shows that the consumers that I sampled are more likely to buy a magazine with the contents within the magazine; this will help me to decide whether to include buzz words on my magazine to entice them to purchase it. From these results I can tell that quality is a big part of buying a magazine and no gimmicks or  ‘cheap and tacky’ items will help to advertise or promote my magazine.
